Blue skies stretching endlessly above. Light streaming through flower-dotted boughs. Women wearing ethereal, butterfly-light party dresses accompanied by men in stately suits. When I was growing up in Atlanta, GA, every year my mother would host an annual Garden Party in our backyard. There, residents from our neighborhood would gather together to strengthen our sense of community. These were some of my favorite days growing up. And on warm spring days, I can sometimes catch the scent of the flowers that bloomed in our garden on these incredibly inspiring afternoons.
